Music: Good Riddance – Green Day Hi, AG Bell. My name is Zachary Cole Schuhmann and I was one of the lucky recipients of the AG Bell College Scholarship for 2016. I wanted to take some time and show you all that the scholarship is helping me pay for and also I want to thank AG Bell for this tremendous scholarship, it helps so much. I’m a freshman at the University of Louisville and I’m majoring in Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Louisville is one of the few colleges that offers a five-year master’s program which I will be pursuing. So that’s just a little information about me so let me show you all how your generosity is helping. I attend the JB Speed School for Engineering which is this old building. This is where the majority of my classes are held. Engineers are required to purchase a laptop with specific requirements and the one I needed was two thousand six hundred dollars. Next up on the list is housing. I’m in the Honors Program at Louisville so I’m required to stay in Courage Hall for my freshman year. The housing is $2,876 per semester and while on campus I definitely have to eat! The meal plans are expensive, priced at 1550 per semester. We have a buffet style option at the bill grill and we had fast food style restaurants like Wendy’s and subway in addition to housing and meal plans and tablets my books and school fees for parking exceed six hundred dollars. As you all can see the expenses add up quickly and I’m extremely appreciative of this scholarship. Again, thank you all so much for this scholarship. It has made a huge impact on my financial ability to attend school and to earn a degree. I cannot thank AG Bell enough for helping me and other hearing-impaired students attend college.
