Tornado at College? This is What Happened…

Tornado at College? This is What Happened…

– I just got texts from the twins that they are under a tornado warning. – It’s a little insane outside right now. – There is just so much craziness. People are trapped in the parking garages. – [Woman] There’s nowhere for
the water to go at this point. And so things are starting
to overwhelm creeks, and the roads are kind of a mess. (intro music) – Hey guys, and welcome
to another episode of Behind the Braids! – In today’s video, it
is sponsored by Sprint, so thank you guys so much for that. – Thank you! – So you will see us go through
some crazy Texas weather, like tornadoes, and lots and lots of rain. – [Brooklyn] Just crazy,
like, weather craziness. – [Bailey] It was our first, like, big thing on Baylor Campus… – [Brooklyn] due to the
weather, so it’s super cool. – So let’s get onto the video. – Whatup guys? Another
day in the McKnight house and today’s after school
kinda looks like this. Pretty much just chillin’. I think we’re all in a kind of a bleurgh mood because of the weather. Rylan, how’s the fire? – Good. – Have you got your toes all
unfrozen yet? That’s good. So, if you guys have been
watching me on socials you know that in Dallas this week it literally will not stop raining, just for weeks it feels like it’s been raining, raining, raining. What’s up, Paise? – Can I FaceTime Brooklyn and Bailey? – You wanna FaceTime the twins? – Yeah! – Paisley literally has been
wanting to FaceTime the twins since they left for college
like almost every single day. Yes? – I wanna show them my, my, cheer moves. – Well it’s a good thing
that we have Sprint, Paise, network built for unlimited if you’re gonna call the twins
every single day, right? She’s been wanting to
call them incessantly, so it’s a good thing we have the unlimited plus plan from Sprint, which is one of their
unlimited plans which I love. Their devices are affordable,
we’ve been using them for six and a half years, and, Paisley is now enjoying it thoroughly, because she’s constantly
calling the twins. – Yeah! – Yeah! O.K. let’s show
’em your gymnastics. Try again, one more time. She’s trying to learn her kick over. – My back walkover. – O.K., your back walkover. Kick! Good job! – It’s waiting . (electronic sound) – Hi, Paisley! – Hi, Brooklyn! Can I show you my cheer
and tumbling moves? – Oo, I wanna see, show me show me! – O.K., I’ll hold it, you go show her. Hey, what’s up? – Hi! – Hey so you guys know by
now that Mindy wrote a book. It’s coming out this Spring, alright, it’s about parenting in
this age of technology, so how to raise successful
kids in an era of technology. And, two of the features
that Mindy really loves that Sprint has are called: “Safe and Found” and “Lookout”. They’re two special features that help you keep track of your kids, (whispering) and what they’re
watching on their phones! – What are you talking about? – Uh, I was talking about your book, and two of the things
that you like about Sprint the “Safe and Found” and “Lookout”. – I do, it just makes it easy
for parents which is helpful. – Or people like me. – Yeah, well like Shaun, not like me. – Come on! – It just makes it easy, so yeah. I mean I would definitely, you
guys know I recommend things, and I talk about, like, tech
and stuff on my socials, but I would definitely
recommend that if you guys are parents that are interested in kinda keeping track of your kids
Sprint’s a great option if you need to change plans or you’re lookin’ for something new. – Yep. – It’s good. So, we are on our way to
Rylan’s volleyball tournament and it is seriously raining
so crazy hard today, huh guys? – Mhm. – I mean Texas gets a lot of rain anyway, but it’s literally so, raining so hard. It’s like eleven thirty
in the morning right now and it’s like dark outside, it’s crazy. And people’s yards are literally looking swamp-ish at this point. (rain) Like, this is just some of
the yards in our neighborhood. They look like creeks! They’re
creek beds at this point. Guess what? It’s still raining! It’s raining so hard! It’s been raining so hard for so long and this is after, like, a
month of rain, pretty much, this last month is pretty
much rain straight, so everything is so saturated, it’s just like there’s nowhere for the water to go at this point. And so, things are starting
to overwhelm creeks and the roads are kind of a mess, so we’re all, I mean it’s
not like flood-stage, yet, but it’s like, it’s getting bad. Hi. – And I don’t wanna mess up my scrunchie. – Yeah, don’t mess up the scrunchie. Good thing you got an umbrella. So we’re running into the game, we’re gonna try to brave
the rain, here we go. There is usually a pond right here. But the pond does not
usually cover the sidewalk or connect to all the soccer fields. Looks like we got some
boys playing in there. Tryna, I don’t know, like body surf? Wow, he’s actually
doin’ a pretty good job. Even our own backyard
is starting to look– Oh! Rabbit! (rewind) Oh! Rabbit! Alright, that scared me. Hiding under the bridge. Starting to look a little water-logged. I was coming to check out
the little creek behind us that usually is completely dry but I would suspect today
is a raging torrent. Good thing I have on my ultra
cute cheetah rain boots! Leopard rain boots, yeah look at that. (water running) We jokingly live on an island. This is our house, and we have this whole creek on this side that comes. And then you can see, look we have a little waterfall today! That is not normally there. And it goes like this
around our little peninsula, and makes a turn, and then
the creek continues on all along our back property, and then, kind of goes winding down. So there’s only one side of our house that isn’t surrounded by creek. And like I said in the summer time, this creek almost doesn’t even exist. This is not even here. We just planted all this ivy last summer, because we’re trying to help with the receding of the land back there, and it holds it together. Also, it keeps the poison ivy down, that tends to grow back here. But look at how good it looks! It’s grown so much, it looks so good. This tree was upright two storms ago, but it’s had so much
water coming through here that has receded all of that ground and that tree is going with it. That tree is just about gone. I just got texts from the twins that they are under a tornado warning, and the sirens are going off so they are rushing down from their
top floor where they live, which is the worst place
to be if there’s a tornado, to the basement, which is where the kids have to wait out the tornado warning. So, they’re on their
way, and this is one of the bummers to being a mom
with their kids not at home. Is you don’t know what’s
going on and you worry. I’ll keep you posted, I’m
sure the twins are safe, they’re very good about this, we’re used to tornado warnings, but, I hate being away from
them while it’s happening. – I didn’t expect anything —
do you hear the lightning? — anything to be happening today, and so I was like ‘Nah,
I won’t get dressed,’ and then this happened, and so it’s a little
insane outside right now, we’re on warning, signs are going off and we’re heading downstairs right now, this is gonna be interesting, I don’t know how long we’ll be down there, but I’ll update you guys. – So, we finally came downstairs, and it’s just like, people on the floor. We’re calling our friends to make sure they’re on the first floor
of their buildings as well, so this is fun, this is an adventure, this is what it looks like, everyone. One of the doors that we’re by, they have candy in their room, so, that’s what we’re eating, we’re
living off of candy, at um, people are just trapped
in the parking garages, there’s this one family
who just walked in, who’s visiting Baylor
Campus for the first time, and they have to come sit in the hallway with a bunch of us students. Pretty fun. – Show us what, um, your
outfit is for the tornado. Good morning. She was in the shower!
So now she’s in a robe. – Don’t worry, I have shorts. – She managed to grab shorts,
which is a good thing. But we were just all caught super unaware. – We were just sitting
in Megan’s bathroom… – Those shoes are, interesting. I am the most prepared. – I have none. (laughter) – No, we are sitting in here because it’s so loud in the hallway, but there’s no windows in here either so we’re just as safe in this bathroom than we are in the hallway. – All is said and done,
and the storm has passed, and now I can go back to my room. Yeah, for the most part. And Emily can go get clothes,
and we can resume our day. So, yeah. On our way
back to our apartment, and hopefully we’ll let you know if anything else exciting happens. Any more natural disasters. – The puppies, they just love me, they just always wanna
give me hugs and kisses, Braidy wants to snuggle, Ash is jealous, so then he starts fighting
Braidy for the attention. Ooh, puppies, ooh no!
Oh! Oh. Oh. Wrong end. – Thank you guys so much
for watching the video, and hopefully you were
at least entertained by seeing us go through all
of the weather craziness. – Stressful, but kind of
adventurous in a bad sorta way? Definitely very interesting. Now if you haven’t
subscribed to this channel, you should click the button over there that says “Subscribe,” it
should be a blue flower, and to watch more of
our Behind the Braids, you should click right over here, and I will see you guys next time! – Bye! – Today’s video is sponsored by Sprint.
