Simon Scholars At The University of Rochester: Broaden Your Horizons
My journey with Simon Scholars started
my senior year of high school. I was invited to the U of R for a weekend. I did a campus tour. I really got to explore some classes also that were offered at the University. During that time I was also given a case study. We were placed into groups of four. We were going to have to find the answer to this very vague, very open question. That was when I realized this school was going to challenge me. The questions that they asked were tough, but they made you think and the answer was there if you thought it through in a process-oriented way. And I remember in that moment getting this kind of adrenaline rush, during a presentation that made me realize, “ok… business… … if this is what business is all
about maybe this is what I want to do.” A week later I got a call and was told that we had won the competition. That is probably the most excited I’ve
been in the past four years. Rochester had given me a venue through which to explore a career before I even went here. An opportunity for a scholarship before
I’d even decided that I wanted to go here. And that to me that said this school
is going to work for you, and work with you.
