(uplifting theme music) My name is Nishca Smith. I’m an international student here at Centennial College. And I’m studying the biotechnology advanced co-op program. I am from Jamaica. Before coming to Centennial College, I was in high school for seven years. I did an advanced program there. At that time I didn’t have much confidence in myself that I would actually get in. It was a very, almost desperate moment for me because I wanted to experience something new, and to have a greater opportunity. Finding out, I screamed in front of my friends. Oh my gosh, it was like a surreal moment for me. I was so excited and it was kind of unbelievable. So at first I thought I was interested in pharmaceutical, but then I found biotech. I didn’t know what it was at first, but after researching I came to realize that not only would I be able to learn both biotechnology and chemistry, but I would have a broader field to go into, because now I’m doing a food co-op, and I can also go into pharmaceutical, medical. So there’s so many opportunities in this field. (uplifting theme music)
