Scholarship Day 2015 | Columbia College

September 13, 2019 1 By Ronny Jaskolski

Columbia College holds Scholarship Days in
December and January each year. Over 100 students travel from all around to
compete for more than $800,000 in scholarships. My student advisor, you guys came to our school
and she I wasn’t able to go to meet the advisor. And she actually recommended it to me and
gave me all the information. And came in was greeted by everyone that I
saw and signed in. And went and got to eat some good food. I was hungry. I didn’t get to eat. I got up at four o’clock. They did a presentation about the president. We got to meet him and he seemed like a fun
guy. I’d want to play video games with him. Then they took us and we did the interview. After students complete a round of interviews
and write two essays, they head back home and wait and then this
happens…. (Cheering and clapping) I was pretty surprised because I told my parents
to keep calling and asking when they were going to come. I thought they were coming like last week,
but then like I just saw them and I was like oh there they are. Its happening.
I really like the atmosphere down there. I loved the campus and all the people that
I met down there. And then I really loved the food. So…I’m so in shock and I’m so excited and
I’m just really looking forward to going to Columbia College. I’m really excited. It means that I’ll be able to do more things
when I’m in college because I’ll be able to save up for traveling abroad
or taking other opportunities while I’m at school. I super surprised very happy. It just take the huge load off everything
that I’ve been worrying about for the past month or two. I mean I was so worried that I was going to
have to be stressed about money and with my brother in college too and oh
my gosh this takes a huge weight and feel like it’s a
huge relief. From the minute we stepped on campus, we just felt from the Student Ambassador that
took us around, to the biology professor that happened to
be just standing in the hallway and she said, ‘Hey would mind giving us
a tour? She is interested in pre-med?’ ‘Sure.’ All of the people that we met were so much
more personable than anyplace we’d ever been and not that they were nice people other places, but they
were just…it was just felt right. To find out how you can see your name on one
