Scholars Programs at UMBC

(soft music) – If you’re looking for a truly transformative experience, I think you really owe it to yourself to consider one of the scholars programs at UMBC. – My four years at UMBC,
and I’m in my fifth year now but my four years as an undergrad were crazy. They were busy. They were exciting. They were stressful. But they were absolutely life-changing. They were monumentous. It would not have been that way without the honors college staff and without Sherman Scholar staff. – I just really am thankful for the head of the dance department, Carol Hess as well as Doug Hamby, who
really is like the head of the Linehan Program
because both of them are always very supportive of any efforts we wanna do within the arts. Ya know, it’s a one-on-one communication and the relationship that you can have with them if you make the effort, they’ll put in the effort right back. None of this would be possible for me to be in the
program or to do the things that I’ve done over the
summers without them so I really appreciate them. – I’m really grateful
that coming into UMBC I had a really passionate cohort of people who managed to motivate
me and get me through my first year. – My thoughts on the humanities program are that it’s extremely underrated. I would really encourage anyone who’s considering to
apply because they would get to be involved not
only with a great group of students but also with
an incredible faculty and staff that are
invested in the student’s learning. – These students are all remarkable. We get amazing applicants to UMBC. But when they get the kind of support the scholars programs offer them they turn into absolute world beaters. They go on to the most
prestigious graduate schools. They win the most
prestigious scholarships. It is wonderful to have them represent our university when they graduate. (soft music)
