MARTINSVILLE IS SHOWCASING LOCAL TALENT. IT’S AN EFFORT TO GET YOUNG PEOPLE INTERESTED IN ART. A SPECIAL EXHIBIT HAS BEEN SET UP WITH ARTWORK FROM CURRENT MARTINSVILLE AND HENRY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOLERS. THIS IS THE 25-TH YEAR THE CENTER HAS PUT TOGETHER THE EXHIBIT. THE CENTER’S DIRECTOR SAYS … BECAUSE OF THE INCREASING EMPHASIS ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH … IT’S IMPORTANT TO EMPHASIZE THE ARTS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. HEIDI PINKSTON/DIRECT OR OF EXHIBITIONS: “THE ARTS CAN LEVEL THE PLAYING GROUND FOR STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS AND EMPOWER THEM, WHERE THEY MIGHT NOT EXCEL IN MATH BUT THEY MIGHT EXCEL IN ART.” THE EXHIBIT WILL BE UP UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30-TH.
