Obtaining a Collective Perspective – Higher Education Leadership Program at WIU

(MUSIC) Being a part of a cohort in the College
Student Personnel Higher Education Leadership program has been very beneficial for me. For one, many of us come from various undergraduate
backgrounds; I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology, while my classmates
have graduated from fields like: Sociology, Writing or Business. Also, many of us work in different positions
throughout our respective colleges. Some of my cohort mates are from residential
life, admissions, academic advising in community colleges, 4-year public universities, and
4-year private colleges. Because of my cohort’s diversity in background
and experience, we have been able to bring our own unique perspectives into the online
discussions and face-to-face classes. You know, I came into my cohort with the least
amount of practical experience in higher education – there are folks in my cohort who have
been working in higher education for 8 years. There are aspects of Higher Education I may
had never even thought much less had an experience or opinion about. Yet now, I will be graduating from this CSP
program with the collective perspectives of 15 other professionals. (MUSIC FADES OUT)
