MUHSD Minute 9-6-19
Hi, I’m Janice Edwards from Livingston high school. I’m a Teacher/Librarian and this is your MUHSD Minute! Labor day may have meant a break for classes But great teams never take a day off and Atwater High’s football squad was one of those teams that put in the work over the holiday. Students of Mr. Arroyo’s AP Euro History class at El Capitan High showed off their artistic side using chalk to recreate works of art in the quad. The exercise was a creative way to finish out the first unit and has added a little culture to many students’ walks in between class. The first Hispanic Youth Leadership Council meeting was held in Modesto this week. Students from Merced High and Livingston high attended the event that aims to encourage students to take pride in their heritage and empower them to pursue higher education and serve their communities. Atwater high held a parent resource night to provide school policies and expectations for students. Parents were also informed about resources available for their children such as counseling and scholarships. Attendees also got to meet the new Atwater High Principal, Brett Theodozio. And faculty also took part in a two-day MTSS training seminar, learning the importance of social-emotional awareness, and furthering the district’s commitment to providing a relevant education for all. That’s it for this edition of the “MUHSD Minute”. See you next time!
