of it is something quite atrocious ♪ ♪ (upbeat intro) ♪ – (FBE) Let’s put your
movie musical knowledge to the test.
– (chuckles) Oh, jeez. You’re gonna be very disappointed. – Oh my god. I’m gonna do so bad. – I probably don’t know
as much as I wish I knew, but that’s a good thing,
because when you haven’t seen things for the first time,
then that’s still a first you haven’t had.
And that’s exciting. – (FBE) We are featuring
a popular music from every era starting from the 1950s
and ending in the 2000s. – Ah. Okay,
so maybe I might be able to tell some of these.
– I’ma do well, because my knowledge is for things
that I shouldn’t obtain, ’cause I should obtain
more of my school knowledge, but I obtain things like this more. ♪ (quirky interlude) ♪ – ♪ A lady wouldn’t make
little snake eyes at me ♪ ♪ When I’ve had my life on this roll ♪ – Immediately.
Immediately know it. – ♪ …get out of my sight ♪
– (men) ♪ Come on, quit stallin’ ♪ – ♪ Stick with me baby… ♪
– It kind of sounds familiar. – ♪ …be a lady ♪

– Ooh. That looked awesome. I have no idea what that is,
but I’m gonna have to check that number out.
– (FBE) Do you know this one? – I have no idea what that was. – I don’t know what this musical is.
– Guys and Dolls. – (FBE) This is from Guys and Dolls.
– Oh! I’ve never even heard of that. – Oh, that sounds familiar.
I feel like I’ve heard of that. – (FBE) This one’s
starring Marlon Brando. – Okay! I like Marlon Brando.
He’s solid. – Yes, who usually
does not sing, right? – Frank Sinatro loathed
the non-singing Marlon Brando for getting this starring role,
while Sinatra, who is also in this movie,
got a lesser part. And Sinatra’s nickname
for Brando was “Mumbles.” – I like this drama.
I like it a lot. – Ouch. Yeah,
I’d be upset too. That sucks. – I mean, let’s be honest,
Sinatra’s song, he should’ve sang it,
but Brando’s an actor, a good one. ♪ (quirky interlude) ♪ – ♪ ‘Cause I was afraid to speak
when I was just a lad ♪ ♪ Me father gave me… ♪
– Ah, man. This is so nostalgic. – Schnikeys! I know what this is. – (Bert and Mary) ♪ The biggest word
you ever heard ♪ ♪ And this is how it goes ♪

– Oh, what is that from?! – Such a fun song. – (sings along) ♪ Um diddle diddle

– Oh my god. This is so nostalgic too,
because I used to watch this as a kid. – (FBE) Do you know this one?
– I have no idea. – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
– Mary Poppins? – Mary Poppins. – (FBE) This is Mary Poppins
starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
– Yes! The OG Mary Poppins. – I know Poppins is getting a reboot,
so I might be checking that out. But I think I should definitely watch
the entirety of this first. – It’s just such a classic story. It’s just such a good feel-good story.
I love it. ♪ (quirky interlude) ♪ – ♪ When you haven’t
any coal in the stove ♪ ♪ And you freeze
in the winter ♪ ♪ And you curse to the wind
at your fate ♪ – Liza Minneli. – ♪ And you look
30 pounds underweight ♪ ♪ When you go to get… ♪
– It’s got that flow. – What is this?
I love it. – What is this? – ♪ …at the window ♪
– ♪ At the window ♪ – ♪ Who’s there? ♪
♪ Oh, hunger ♪ – ♪ See how love
flies out the door ♪ – (laughs)
– ♪ Money makes the world go around ♪ – Oh, I’ve heard this song. – ♪ Money makes the world go around ♪ ♪ The clinking,
clanking sound of… ♪ – I don’t know what this
is from, wow. – (FBE) Do you know this one?
– No. – No clue.
– I have no idea what that is. – Is this Cabaret? – (FBE) So this is called Cabaret.
– Oh, it’s from Cabaret! What?! – Okay, I’ve heard of that,
but obviously never watched it. – (FBE) And that is Liza Minnelli.
– That was Liza Minnelli? I never knew what she looked like. – (FBE) Cabaret revolutionized
the film musical by dealing with taboo themes like homosexuality,
abortion, and promiscuity in a frank and thoughtful manner.
– Dang! And in song. – I feel like I should watch it now. I feel like I need to educate myself
on this film. – I have been meaning to see Cabaret
for years, ’cause it looks so good. Even that clip,
just the energy that she’s putting into
her performance, it’s so captivating. ♪ (quirky interlude) ♪ – (kids) ♪ Empty belly life ♪
♪ Rotten smelly life ♪ – Oh. Easy. – I think I know this one. – I haven’t seen this one
in a long time. – (Molly) ♪ Santa Claus,
we never see ♪ – (Annie) ♪ Santa Claus, what’s that? ♪
– (sings along) ♪ Who’s he? ♪ – (kids) ♪ No one cares
for you a smidge ♪ – The lyrics are so sad. – ♪ It’s a hard knock life ♪
– (giggles) I love that. – They make her pop like that.
Everyone has dull colors, but she’s wearing the bright red,
has the bright red hair. I love it. – (FBE) All right.
Do you know this one? – It’s Annie.
– Was it Annie? – It’s Annie.
– I’ve watched plays. I’ve seen the movie.
That whole show is frickin’ great, and I totally forgot
that Annie was a musical. ♪ (quirky interlude) ♪ – ♪ Like you always do ♪
♪ And you ♪ – (sighs) – This doesn’t look familiar
to me at all. – Oh g– I know this song. – ♪ …even knew
about the heartache I’ve been going through ♪
– Is that Tom Hanks? – Tom Hanks, okay. – ♪ Well, I try and try
to forget you… ♪ – I’ve heard this song before.
– Ooh, I like the music. – What is this from?
– ♪ Every time you do that thing you do ♪
– Oh my god! That’s what’s-her-face! What?! (laughs)
What musical is this?! – (FBE) Do you know this one?
– No, I don’t. – I don’t know what that is.
– Do That Thing You Do. – (FBE) This is called
That Thing You Do. – Oh, okay. Makes sense
with the song. – I’ve never seen that
or heard of that before. – (FBE) This was Tom Hanks’
directorial debut. – Oh. I love Tom Hanks. – (FBE) It’s a one-hit-wonder story
about a young band in the ’60s who achieve brief fame
when their catchy song climbs the charts.
All the actors in this film learned how to play
their characters’ instruments. And it took them a month
to learn their band’s songs. – What? That’s insane. – That’s talent.
That’s dedication. I wish I had that type of dedication.
I just get tired. – Only a month?
I feel like it would take longer. Like, me? It would take me a year
to learn an instrument. ♪ (quirky interlude) ♪ – ♪ Come… ♪ – (sighs) Stop!
I’m gonna [bleep] cry! I don’t mean to curse,
but I’m gonna [bleep] cry! – ♪ …what may ♪
– Is that Ewan McGregor? – ♪ I will love you ♪
– That voice, though. – Aww. This is so cute. – ♪ (sustains note) ♪
– Oh, this guy’s so pissed. (laughs) – (Christian and Satine) ♪ …day ♪ ♪ Come what may ♪
– Oh, he’s so pissed. – Oh, oh. I love this movie. – (FBE) Do you know this one?
– I have no idea what that is. – Yes! But it’s not coming out of me. – Moulin Rouge!
– (“French” accent) It’s Moulin Rouge. – (FBE) So this is Moulin Rouge.
– Moulin Rouge? I have heard of it,
but don’t know what it’s about. – I thought it was good.
I wanna see it now. Their voices were amazing, and it was really shot well.
I like the costume design. There was a lot
that I liked about it. – I watched this so much as a kid.
For a lot of people, Ewan McGregor is Obi Wan Kenobi. For me, he’s the guy
from Moulin Rouge. ♪ (quirky interlude) ♪ – ♪ One more day
before the storm ♪ – Oh my god.
I love Aaron Tveit so much. – This is a classic musical. – ♪ …my brothers there ♪ – I think I know it.
– What is it called? This is the one
with Anne Hathaway. – I wish that was my hand. – ♪ The time is now ♪
– Dang. – ♪ …day is here ♪ – ♪ One day more ♪
– Wow, there’s a lot of big stars in this film. – (FBE) All right,
do you know this one? – Oh, Les Mis.
– Les Miserables. – What is Les Miserables?
– Les Miserables? – (FBE) This scene
is from Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman,
Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, and Amanda Seyfried. – Yeah, this was a big, big movie
when it came out. It blew up. It was like everyone
had to watch it. – That one actually introduced me
to musicals. – (FBE) The set for Diagon Alley
from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
was remodeled and used for the barricade scene.
– That’s so sick! I wanna rewind
and watch that now. That’s so cool. – That’s pretty dope. I love the reusage of sets
that are already there. Don’t put ’em to waste.
Use ’em for something. – These are all–
a lot of them were really cool. And even the ones
that I’ve never seen before are kind of interesting
and kind of get my theater blood boiling again
