I’m Kingsley I’m Rahim and I’m Reina we’re excited to hear about your stories
and we’re thrilled that you’re part of the Dell scholarship program the things
I was scared to share with home I was comfortable sharing with Dell scholars
my first semester in college my dad was incarcerated and I didn’t know what to
do I learned how to reach out to the Dell scholars and they were able to help
me talk through that and point me to resources where you know I was able to
ultimately deal with that and still get my degree it’s hard to build that trust
that confidence but this program really did that what were the most valuable
parts of the program how did it help you actually get through college I always on
call use the hotline the hotline always willing to help me always patient always takes time to explain to me step by step what I should do to really like make use of the funds
that I have to pay for college in the best way possible
making sure every year every class every grade every problem is taken care of is
important I have a lot of friends in college that had scholarships I don’t
have a lot of friends in college that had a support system that was attached to
the scholarship you don’t have to make those decisions by yourself there’s
always going to be people there to support you you know when we know that
you’ve walked down the aisle to get your diploma we just have this huge
sense of pride even though you’re not our children we kind of feel like you
are what makes me really excited about this is to see the trajectory that you
all launch yourselves on in your lives I hope that once I graduate I can go back
to my community and in a way show them that hey I was once in your shoes but look
where I’m at now this can be you someday you know despite all the obstacles in
your life you can still achieve what you set your mind to
