Curtin AHEAD Team | Building Aspiration Towards Higher Education
>>Shamim: I have nominated the Curtin AHEAD team. It really heartens me to see such a dynamic group of people and they’re all mixed, different ages, etcetera and different skill sets. The team works with, what we call equity groups. So schools in low socio-economic postcode areas and within a community with diverse groups. So for example it could be prison residents, it could be disengaged youth, humanitarian entrants etcetera. Though they work towards building aspirations towards higher education. What has been most rewarding for me as the manager, we have reached 74,000 prospective students across the different programs over the two years. We’ve also engaged with 200 schools and also we have engaged with about 260 organisations altogether.>>Charles Flodin: The reality is that work that we’re doing, there is a cumulative effect, both at the institution level and then the individual effect for students.>>Shamim: To see them so passionate about the work that they do and they give their whole 100 and more percent, I would say.
