3 Ways to Teach Grade Schoolers About Money
Hi, I’m Ta’Shawnda, branch manager at TCF Bank. I’m here to talk about three ways you can teach grade schoolers about money. Children in grade school start to develop ideas about money. Now’s a good time to teach them about saving and planning. When you’re shopping with your
children, talk to them about lists. As you shop, talk about how you’re comparing prices, and choosing what to buy. Give your child a piggy bank that’s divided
into categories such as share, save, and spend. Have her divide up her allowance. When it’s time to donate the share portion, research something your child is interested in and donate to that cause. Take your kids to the bank so they learn
about depositing money and basic banking. It’s a good time to set up a savings
account for your children. Have them deposit their saved funds from their piggy bank into the account and watch it grow. Thanks for watching, and thank you for
banking with TCF.
